Former Facebook Chief Creative Officer Mark D’Arcy Joins The Brandtech Group As Partner & Chief Creative Officer
New York, New York June 22, 2022 09:00 CET / 03:00 ET: Mark D’Arcy has joined The Brandtech Group as partner and chief creative officer to lead the group’s technology-enabled creative solutions for brands. D’Arcy, who was instrumental in teaching brands how to use social media, will also lead new brandtech capabilities for the metaverse, AR and Web3.
As the former head of the Facebook Creative Shop, D’Arcy brings unparalleled experience of the power and potential of in-housing at a global scale to the group, which is already the in-housing market leader. He left Facebook (now Meta) in September 2021 after more than a decade at the company and is one of the world’s most highly-regarded creative leaders. He will be armed with a significant war chest to invest and make acquisitions.
The Brandtech Group founder and CEO, David Jones, says: “Mark is widely known as the person who taught brands how to use social media. I’ve known him for more than a decade and he’s an amazing talent. With Mark you get brilliant creativity, deep business acumen and a unique understanding of how to leverage technology to drive growth. Most people have only one of those skill sets. He will be able to bring his unique insights from spending 10 years as the chief creative officer of the world’s largest social media platform to our clients, while forging a new path for them in Web3 and the metaverse.”
The Brandtech Group partner and CCO, Mark D’Arcy, says: “There have never been more creative opportunities for brands to use technology to reinvent how they engage and serve their customers, and drive growth. As well as sharing The Brandtech Group’s commitment to building and growing brands with purpose, I’m also impressed by its growing network of extraordinary next-generation companies and its amazing talent. They are not just talking about the future of tech-enabled marketing but are actually building it into the heart of some of the best brands in the world. That’s why I’ve joined.”
D’Arcy joined Facebook in 2011 as CCO of Facebook Creative Shop, the platform’s in-house creative strategy unit, leading teams across 18 cities and in 2012 founded the Facebook Creative Council. In 2018, he was appointed Facebook VP global business marketing and CCO. Prior to Facebook (now Meta) he spent seven years at Time Warner in New York as chief creative officer and later also as President of its Global Media Group. He is currently based in New York.
The Brandtech Group partner, Emma Cookson, says: “When we launched we said that most companies are either experts in brand or technology but not both, and that’s why we felt the world needed a brandtech group. Mark is one of the very few people who is a deep expert in both the brand and technology worlds and he will be able to bring that expertise to our clients. He will be able to add value for them in so many ways, from sharing the insights he learned as the chief creative officer of the world’s biggest in-house content studio, to leading them into the metaverse and Web3.”
The Brandtech Group is continuing its exceptional growth trajectory with Q1 2022 net revenue organic growth of 37.3 percent. The group’s disruptive model has consistently outperformed the market with organic revenue growth for 2021 of more than 50 percent, following 27.1 percent net organic revenue growth for 2020.
